The Bethany Men and Women start conference play this week with big match ups ahead.  The teams start with Friends University on Saturday in Wichita at noon, and then play Kansas Wesleyan on April 6th at Oakdale Park in Salina, with a start time of 5pm.
The Bethany Men are 5 time defending KCAC Champions and Coach Vic Bateman says " We have had tough matches against Friends the last few years, and expect another one from a good Friends team.  We feel our men are well prepared after a very tough early season schedule, which included three Division 1 teams, and top 20 D 2, NAIA and JUCO teams."  The Bethany Women, winners of the KCAC 4 of the last 5 years, look forward to playing an improving Friends team, and getting their conference season under way.  Leading the team this year are seniors Beth Prier, Aimee Harrell, and Crystal Mannebach in their run for 5 out of 6 titles.
On Monday the 6th of April the Swedes play the KWU Coyotes.  Former Swede player and assistant coach Brent Mooney, and the athletic junior Tanner Colvin lead the Coyotes into battle.  Coach Bateman says "I think the match up against the Coyotes and Mooney is similar to Mr. Miyagi facing Daniel LaRusso in a karate tournament, without Daniel having the help of the vaunted crane kick."
