The Bethany golf program finished a respectable fourth Tuesday at the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic. The event, hosted by Wichita State, was played at Wichita Country Club and featured three NCAA Division I programs.

After the first round was canceled due to below freezing temperatures, the Swede golfers began their first round on Monday in far from great conditions. With winds blowing up to 45mph and a temperature of 25 degrees, Bethany was up against it as they tried to continue the form they had shown all season.

Leading the Swedes was freshman Jack Hiscock who posted a 77 (+6) and was tied for 8th overall. Following behind was junior Ian Ford, who scored a 79. Senior Jono Painter added an 83 as did senior Kevin Walters with junior Thomas Fernandes shooting an 84 to round out the top five. Playing as an individual, senior Dennis Chrenek posted a 79. The team sat in 4th place behind leaders Iowa State, Kansas State, and Wichita State.

Greeted with similar conditions the following morning and an hour delay due to frost, the Swede golfers were led by Walters who tallied a 73. Behind him was Painter with a 74, Hiscock added another 77, and Ford and Fernandes added 85 and 86, respectively. Chrenek had an additional 82 to his previous 79.

The Swede golfers will continue their season next week with the Sterling Invite on Monday and Tuesday, April 13th and 14th.
