Two school records were taken down and 24 personal bests recorded as the Swedes took advantage of some overdue spring-like weather at the ACCK meet on Friday, April 10.
Senior Jessica Becker added to her list of accomplishments by beating her 2008 shot put mark of 50' 1 1/4" by knocking out a 15.35m (50' 4 1/2") winner in the meet hosted by Bethel College. Freshman Shane Valdez took down Mandy Rathbun's 7' 6" pole vault record by going 2.45m (8' 1/2") in her first year of competition in that event.
 
In all 10 men's events and 14 women's events recorded personal best marks on the season. Among them were Ira Autrey (100m, triple jump), Ty Bieker (400m hurdles), Jordan Gray (discus, hammer), Nhial Malia (1500m), Nick O'Loughlin (200m), Tomas Ortiz (400m), Josh Snider (1500m), and Kenneth Whitacre (400m) on the men's side. On the women's team, seasons bests were notched by Nadia Armbruster (1500m), Jessica Becker (shot put, hammer), Lindsay Grivetti (100m, 200m, long jump), Hannah Hemberger (shot put, hammer), Jaci Kepler (100m hurdles), Molly McElgunn (200m), Marcie Schottler (1500m), Shane Valdez (100m hurdles, pole vault) and the women's 4 x 400 relay (Courtney Gallardo, Stephanie Wilson, McElgunn, Kepler).
 
Event winners were Autrey in the 100m, O'Laughlin in the 200m, McElgunn in the 200m, and Becker in the shot and discus. McElgunn took second in the 100m and Autrey was second in the triple jump while Valdez was runnerup in the high hurdles. Malia was a second place finisher in the 1500m, and Becker was second in the hammer. Second place finishes were also taken by Jordan Gray in the shot put, Caleb Svaty in both the discus and the hammer, and the women's 4 x 400 relay.
 
Other top three marks: Courtney Gallardo in the 200m, Valdez in the vault, Gilda Alvarez in the discus, and the men's 4 x 400 relay (Ortiz, Malia, Snider, Autrey).
