Dance Team

The Swedehearts Dance team would like to welcome the 2009-2010 recruits to Bethany College. They are:
Whitney Milford is a senior at Garden Plain High School. She has a 4.0 GPA and is ranked 11th in her class. Whitney plans to study Accounting at Bethany. She was also chosen to enter the Bethany College Honors program. Whitney has been on the Garden Plain high school dance team for three years and danced with the KC Chiefs Cheerleaders clinic. "We are elated that Whitney has chosen Bethany as the place to continue her education and Dance career. She is extremely talented as well as a very genuine and sweet person. Her commitment, self motivation and work ethic makes her a perfect fit to our program" Stated Coach Taylor Martinson. "I knew from the moment saw her at UDA camp that she would be a huge asset to the dance team." Whitney is the daughter of Mike and Jolene Milford of Goddard, KS and she is coached by Anne Weber.
Suzy Lindsay joined the Bethany Dance team this spring after attending Kansas State University. She graduated Hillsboro High School in 2008 where she was Class Vice President. In high school Suzy was involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters, Softball, Dance, Cheerleading, Art Club, and Peer Tutors. "Suzy is such an amazing girl. I am elated that she decided to transfer to Bethany last spring. She fits in perfectly and is a great dancer. I love her dedication and passion for dance." Stated Coach Taylor Martinson. Suzy is the daughter of Luke and Becky Lindsay.
Kelsey Heronemus has been apart of the Trego Community High School Dance team for four years. She is currently the captain. Kelsey has a 3.7 GPA and is currently ranked 6th in her class. She will study Business at Bethany in the fall of 2009. Coach Taylor States, "Kelsey is a very intelligent young woman. I am elated that she has chosen Bethany to continue her education and dance career. She is a very talented dancer as well as a quick learner so she will be a huge asset to our dance program."

Sydney Simon is the daughter of Fred and Dianna Simon of Waterloo, KS. Sydney is a 2009 graduate of Trinity Catholic High School. In high school Sydney was a Student Council representative, co-founded SADD for THS, participated in the school play, was a member of the THS mass choir & Key club, was a member of the Celtic singers Honor Choir, and a three year member of the dance team where she was captain this year. Coach Taylor Martinson states, "Sydney is so talented and extremely involved. She is perfect for the Bethany family. She is a very intelligent and out going girl. I know that she will do great things here at Bethany!" Sydney will participate in Dance team and in Bethany Choir in the fall of 2009.
Alyssa Cox comes to us from Smith Center, Kansas where she is a 2009 graduate of Smith Center Junior- Senior High School. Alyssa participated in Volleyball, Track, and was a four year member of the Cheerleading and Scarletts Dance team. She was also a member of the Arloa Barnes Dance Studio. Alyssa will pursue a degree in Secondary Education-Social Sciences while attending Bethany College. Coach Taylor States, "Alyssa is such a sweet and genuine girl. I am really excited she has chosen Bethany to further her dance and educational career. Bethany is lucky to have her!" Alyssa is the daughter of Margo Cox.
Amy Klatt will join the Swedehearts dance team in the fall of 2009. Amy is from Ellinwood, Kansas and is a 2009 graduate of EHS. While in High school Amy has been involved in KAY, National Honor Society, Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis as well as a three year dance team member. Amy has received numerous honors such as Honor Roll, Kansas State Scholar, KU Honor Scholar, and Who's who among Honor students. Coach Taylor States, "Amy is a very talented and bright young lady. She is very involved and will fit in perfectly at Bethany. Not only will she excel in dance but she will do great things in the classroom as well." Amy is the daughter of Randy and Rhonda Klatt.
Jessica Hake will join the Swedehearts dance team in the fall of 2009. She is a 2009 graduate of Beloit Junior-Senior High School. Jessica spent the last four years participating in dance team where she was dance captain. She was also involved in Student council, National Honor Society, NCK dance, Track, Golf, FCA, and Future medical careers club. Jessica will be pursuing a degree in Pre-Med while at Bethany. "Jessica is extremely talented! We are so lucky that she chose to further her dance career and education here at Bethany. She will bring so much to the Pre-Med program as well as dance team" stated Coach Taylor Martinson.
Jerika Scheer has been apart of the Garden Plain High School Dance team sponsored by Anne Weber for four years. It is the only sport she participates in because she loves it so much. Jerika has also danced with the Kansas City Chief Cheerleaders for three years at their annual spirit day. Jerika has a 3.6 GPA and will major in Business Management at Bethany. She is so excited to attend Bethany with her best friend Whitney Milford who has also signed with the dance team. Coach Taylor states, "I knew from the moment I met Jerika that she would be a great fit here at Bethany. She is a very talented dancer and one of the most genuine people I know. Jerika has a true passion for dance which makes her a perfect addition to the dance team."
Jerika is the daughter of Dan and Glenda Scheer of Garden Plain.
Chelsey Horney is a 2009 graduate of Valley Falls High School. She will join the Swedehearts dance team in the Fall of 2009. While in high school Chelsey participated in the Dance Team, Spirit Squad, Volleyball, and Basketball. Chelsey was also involved in Drama Club, National Honor Society, and was selected for Who's Who among American High School students. Chelsey plans to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy or Education while attending Bethany. Coach Taylor stated, "Chelsey is very up beat and fun. I love her positve attitude! She is a very talented dancer and will bring a lot to the dance team. She is very bright and will do great things while attending Bethany College." Chelsey is the daughter of Brian and Julie Horney.
Tobey Bergsten comes to us from Hutch Community College. She was involved in dance team, student government, and ambassadors at Hutch. She also was the head coach of the Inman High School Cheerleading team. Tobey is studying History here at Bethany. She is a huge asset to both the Cheerleading team and the Dance team. She was elected Captain for the fall of 2009. Coach Taylor states, "One word comes to mind when I think of Tobey and it's amazing. We are truly blessed to have her. She is a very strong cheerleader and a great dancer so she is a leader on each team. She is so patient, loving, and kind which instantly made her a perfect fit to the team. I can not say enough great things about Tobey." Tobey is the daughter of Barry and Julie Bergsten.
