The men's golf team edged closer to a conference title as they picked up their 6th win of the season at the Nike Invitational hosted by Sterling College. The Swedes edged out the Swede ‘B' team by 11 shots with conference rival Southwestern College finishing in third.
The win was also a big occasion for Freshman Jack Hiscock who captured his first college title. The man from Swindon fired a 68 and 77 for a two day total of 145 to edge fellow Swede Ian Ford and Pratt Community College's Brett Belt by 3 shots.
Greeted by a course that was saturated with rain, the golfers set out to put one hand on the conference title. After leading the ‘A' team with a 68 Jack Hiscock was supported by Ian Ford's 71. These were the only sub par scores of the day. Jono Painter, Kevin Walters and Dennis Chrenek all fired an 81 to make up the ‘A' team scores. The ‘B' team was led by Sophmore Brock Bullard who posted a nice 74. Leslie Bonvilian and Thomas Fernandes added 76's each with Adam Glover adding an 80 and Chris Reinhart an 86.
The second day was a better day with the sun staying out for the whole day. Hiscock added a 77 to his previous 68 with Ian Ford adding a 77 to his 71. Jono Painter added a 77 with Kevin Walters adding a 79 and Dennis Chrenek a 86. Leslie Bonvilian led the ‘B' team on the second day with a 76 with Bullard adding a 78. Thomas Fernandes and Chris Reinhart both fired 81 with Adam Glover posting a 84.
With the win Bethany collected a clean sweep of the regular season KCAC events and take a substantial lead going into the conference event. The Conference event will be the Swedes next event on the 27th-28th April. A win will see the Swedes through to the NAIA National Championship on 19th-22nd May in Silvis, Ind.
