Bethany College would like to welcome the 2009-2010 Cheerleading recruits. They are:
Amy Brown comes to us from Sherman, Texas. She was involved in Cheerleading, Basketball, Volleyball, and Spanish club in High School. Amy will study Athletic Training at Bethany. Coach Taylor Martinson states, "Amy is a phenomenal cheerleader. She is very dedicated to the sport and learns very fast. Her passion for cheerleading is contagious which will make her a great asset to the cheer team." Amy is the daughter of Jon & LaVonda Brown.
Jessica Briggs will attend Bethany College in the fall of 2009. She is a senior at Yale High School in Yale, Oklahoma. Jessica cheered all four years in high school and was also involved in drama and beta. Jessica will study English Education at Bethany in the fall of 2009. Coach Taylor States, "Jessica is so fun and up-beat. Her love for cheer spreads through the room like wildfire. She is a very hard worker and will be a huge asset to our 09-10 team." Jessica is the daughter of Jana and Lee Laubach and Boice and Tammy Briggs.
Kenzie Haas will join the BC cheer team in the fall of 2009. She is a 2009 graduate of Niwot High School in Colorado. Kenzie plans to pursue a degree in Psychology with a specialization in Criminal while attending Bethany. Kenzie was a 4 year member of the NHS cheer team where she was captain this year. "Kenzie is so up beat and fun! She will add so much energy to our 2009 team. She has been a flyer, a base, and she also tumbles so she is extremely talented when it comes to cheer. Her passion for this sport is contagious. I am extremely excited to see the great things Kenzie will do for the team and Bethany" Coach Taylor Martinson states. Kenzie is the daughter of Robb and Liz Haas.
Holly Cordray is a 2009 graduate of Gore High School in Oklahoma. Holly spent the last four years participating in Cheerleading, fast & slow pitch softball, and three years of basketball. Holly plans to pursue a degree in Elementary Education while at Bethany. Coach Taylor stated, "Holly is such a strong athlete. She is amazing cheerleader and is super outgoing. Her experience and strength will make her a huge asset to the cheerleading team. I am so excited to have another Oklahoman join us here at Bethany."
Nikki Gamberg is a 2009 graduate of Wheat Ridge High School in Denver, Colorado. Nikki was on the varsity cheerleading team for two years where she was a captain this year. She was also played varsity soccer for three years, was a member of Students Working Against Tobacco, and was a teacher cadet. Nikki plans to pursue a degree in Elementary Education in the fall of 2009. "Nikki is full of positive energy and is one of the sweetest people I have ever met! She is an amazing cheerleader and a great student. Nikki will do great things for our squad and Bethany College" States Coach Taylor. Nikki is the daughter of Reid and Debi Gamberg.
Jimmy Taylor comes to us from Fossil Ridge High School in Keller, Texas. Jimmy has been a member of the Fossil Ridge High School Cheerleading team that is currently ranked 11th in the Nation. Jimmy recently attended the 2009 National High School Cheerleading Championship at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. While in high school Jimmy also participated in National Honors Society, Golf, Football, and Tennis. Coach Taylor states, "Words can not express how excited I am that Jimmy has chosen Bethany to continue his cheerleading career and education. Jimmy is extremely talented and has amazing tumbling skills. He fits in perfectly with the team and will be a perfect addition the the Bethany family." Jimmy is the son of Chris and Michelle Taylor.
Destanee Bohls will be a freshman in the fall of 2009. She is a graduate of Moscow High School in Moscow, Kansas. While in high school Destanee was involved in Basketball, Volleyball, Track, Softball, Power lifting, KAYS, and Cheerleading. She has also been a member of All Star Cheer teams. Destanee will participate in both Cheerleading and Basketball at Bethany. Coach Taylor states, "Destanee is an amazing athlete. We are truly blessed to have her on the team. She is going to do great things for the cheer program and Bethany College." Destanee is the daughter of Misti Bohl and Andy Bohl.
Courtney Chandler will be a sophomore at Bethany this year. She was a 2008 graduate of Drumright High School in Drumright, Oklahoma. While in high school Courtney participated in Volleyball, Soccer, and Track. She was also involved in FCCLA, Student Council, FBLA, was selected female athlete of the year and homecoming queen. "Courtney is an amazing athlete! She has natural cheer talent and a bubbly personality. I am so excited that she will be joining our team next year. She will fit in perfectly!" Stated Coach Taylor Martinson. Courtney is the daughter of Rusty and Charlene Hoover.
Tobey Bergsten comes to us from Hutch Community College. She was involved in dance team, student government, and ambassadors at Hutch. She also was the head coach of the Inman High School Cheerleading team. Tobey is studying History here at Bethany. She is a huge asset to both the Cheerleading team and the Dance team. She was elected Captain for the fall of 2009. Coach Taylor states, "One word comes to mind when I think of Tobey and it's amazing. We are truly blessed to have her. She is a very strong cheerleader and a great dancer so she is a leader on each team. She is so patient, loving, and kind which instantly made her a perfect fit to the team. I can not say enough great things about Tobey." Tobey is the daughter of Barry and Julie Bergsten.
Hui Jin Kim comes to us from Colorado Springs, Colorado where she attended Harrison High School. While in high school Hui Jin participated in cheerleading. Coach Taylor states, "Hui Jin is such a sweet girl. She is a talented cheerleader and a great student. Bethany is lucky to have her."
