The Bethany College softball team traveled to Southwestern College on Wednesday.  To end the week, the Swedes headed to McPherson College.

The Bethany bats came out hot in Winfield on Wednesday.  Taking an early 6-0 lead after two innings, the Swedes never looked back as they stomped the Moundbuilders 9- in five innings.  Junior Morgan Evans led the offensive attacks with three hits and three runs.  Evans was followed by seniors Angelisa Sexson and Sarah Logan and junior Emily Zimmerman, all who had two hits each.  Seniors Laura Christopher and Emily Heronemus added one hit apiece.  Christopher tallied three RBIs while Logan added two and Sexson, Zimmerman, and sophomore Britany Brady tacked on one each.  Freshman Stephanie Tyler got the start and win for the Swedes, facing 17 batters, striking out two and only allowing two hits.

Game two proved to be a battle after Bethany took an early 3-0 lead.  Southwestern closed the gap with one run in the fourth before adding another in the seventh.  However, Bethany closed out the game with a double play to take a 3-2 win.  Evans and Logan both had three hits while Boling contributed two.  Christopher, Heronemus, Sexson, and junior Jacquelyn Hernandez all had one hit.  Sexson tallied two RBIs while Evans had one.  Senior Savannah Dejaml started for Bethany and came out with the win after facing 26 batters, striking out five and giving up six hits.

Looking to keep the streak alive, the Swedes did just that as they rolled into McPherson on Saturday.  Scoring in all but one inning of the five inning rout, Bethany shutout McPherson with a big 13-0 victory in game one.  Christopher and J. Hernandez led the attack with two hits each.  Logan roped a two-run homer while Boling, Heronemus, Zimmerman, and Sexson all added one hit.  J. Hernandez had two RBIs as did Logan while Boling, Heronemus, and Sexson all tacked on one.  Tyler got the start and win for Bethany, throwing five innings, facing 16 batters, striking out six and giving up only three hits.

The Bethany bats did not cool down in game two as the Swedes tacked up 13 hits.  Scoring every inning, Bethany completed the sweep as they again run ruled the Bulldogs 12-1.  Christopher, Heronemus, and J. Hernandez all had two hits each.  Evans, Logan,. Zimmerman, Boling, and freshman Kellyn Peters added one hit.  Logan had another home run and three RBIs while J. Hernadez and Christopher tallied two RBIs apiece.  Evans, Peters, and Sexson all tacked on one RBI.  Dejmal got the start and win, facing 20 batters, striking out three and giving up six hits.

The Swedes host Kansas Wesleyan University on Monday, April 20th for their last home conference doubleheader at 5:00 pm.  Bethany then heads to Sterling College on Tuesday, April 21st for a 5:00 pm doubleheader.  The squad is now 9-3 in the KCAC and 26-13 overall.
