Three throwers won four individual titles and the Swedes notched a total of 36 seasonal best marks as the BC track and field teams took some of their best efforts to the KCAC championships May 1-2 in McPherson.

Jessica Becker once again led the way for the Swedes as she won the shot put (14.35m - 47' 1") and the discus (41.08m - 134' 9") while taking fourth in the hammer (39.76m - 130' 5") and narrowly missing placing in the javelin. Amber Dunham launched a personal best javelin throw in winning that event with a 42.46m (139' 4") effort. Both have already qualified for nationals in the events they won.

Dunham also picked up a second in the shot put (13.11m - 43' 1/4") as the Bethany women went 1-2-4 in the shot put (Mollie Dahl was fourth in 12.18m - 39' 11 1/2") and 1-2-5 in the discus. Gilda Alvarez uncorked a personal record 40.70m (133' 6") in the discus to take runnerup to Becker. Hannah Hemberger was fifth in 35.18m (115' 5").

Caleb Svaty won the men's hammer throw in 46.67m (153' 1") for the lone conference champ on the men's side. However, there were some terrific battles on both the men's and women's side that came down to the final attempt or was a photo finish.

Other top three finishes men: Ira Autrey - third in the 100m (11.25/11.33), third in the triple jump (6.94m - 46' 7 1/2"); Nick O'Loughlin - second in the 400m (50.87/49.31), third in the 200m (22.43/22.50); men's 4 x 400 relay (O'Loughlin, Hugo Escobar, James Bowden, Ty Bieker) 3:21.25; and on the women's side: Molly McElgunn - second in the 100m (12.85/12.83); Shane Valdez - third in long jump (5.29m - 17' 4 1/4"); and the women's 4 x 100m relay (Valdez, Courtney Gallardo, Courtney Chandler, McElgunn) second in 50.99.

The women's team finished a strong third behind Southwestern and Tabor by scoring 99 1/2 points. The men were sixth with 55 points, but trailed fifth place Tabor by just two points and fourth place Ottawa by eight points. Southwestern also won the men's side with Bethel second and Friends third.
