Ryan Ward, Ellinwood, Kan., has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Bethany College for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Ward is a 6'5", 240 lb. forward. He was a three-year starter and three-year letterwinner at Ellinwood High School. There he averaged 14 ppg., and eight rpg. He shot 58 percent from the field and 53 percent from the line.
He has twice earned second team all-league honors and earned first-team all-area in 2009. Also in 2009 Ward was named 3A honorable mention by both the Wichita Eagle and the Hutchinson News. He also was on the Hoisington Winter Jam all-tournament team two years and participated in the MCAA all-star game in 2009.
Bethany head coach Clair Oleen said he is pleased to have Ward join the Bethany basketball program adding that "his big, strong body will adapt well to the college game."
At Ellinwood High, Ward also was a three-year starter and letterwinner for the football team.
Ward is the son of Stacey Ward and Kenny Ward. He plans to study secondary education and history at Bethany.
