After their first race at the Baker Maple Leaf Invitational, running tired and feeling "flat, not fresh" which according to head coach Aaron Davis was his goal, the Swedes were at it again. The Bethany College men and women's cross country participated in the Friends Invitational at Lake Afton Park in Goddard last Friday.
"I felt we ran a lot better than we did the week before," said head coach Aaron Davis. "They still ran tired, but were a lot better."
As a team, Bethany placed ninth with a total of 285 points, averaging a time of 22:24.60. Freshman Janeeka Montgomery finished 20th at 20:23.96 in the women's 5k run. "Janeeka finished in the top 20," Davis said, "but I think she has a shot at being in the top five in conference."
"As for the boys, most are track guys and not cross country guys," Davis continued. "But there are still two months of training left."
Bethany will next lace up their shoes for the OBU Invitational on Saturday, September 26.
