The Bethany College men and women's cross country team returned to competition after a week free of racing. The squad headed to the Fort Hays State University Tiger Classic on Saturday.
On the men's side, senior Jorge Escobar had a standout meet. "Jorge had a personal record of over a minute," said head coach Aaron Davis. I believe his PR was near a minute and five seconds."
Junior Kate Dibbern led the Swede women, running just under her personal record. "She finished just outside of the top 20," Davis said.
"It was good, but extremely cold," continued Davis. "Saturday was about getting everyone used to the conditions. It was freshman Janeeka Montgomery's first time getting used to the cold as she is from Texas."
The Swedes have another week free of competition before heading to the NAIA Mid-States Classic on October 24.
"With Jorge, as he keeps working hard, he could have a shot at nationals," said Davis.
