The Bethany College women's basketball team took the court for their first unofficial contest Saturday evening. The Swedes battled some slightly familiar, and somewhat older, faces in their alumni game.

"I thought things went real well," said head coach Jim Campion. "We did some nice things for it being our first scrimmage."

The Swedes took on some quality alums, who Campion feels did some nice things as well. With the advantage of being in better shape, Bethany had a strong evening of play.

"We did well in the half court offense," Campion said. "I thought our girls did a nice job."

Bethany is set to scrimmage Cowley County Community College and Brown Mackie Community College on Monday, October 26 before scrimmaging Barton Community College and Hutchinson Community College on Saturday, October 31.

"We will use both those scrimmages to help us get better each time we play," said Campion. "They will help our offense and defense get better with each game, and will help with our execution."

The Swedes officially kick off their season at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3 with a trip to Concordia University.
