Fresh off their first win of 2009, the Bethany College women's basketball team was hoping to add more. The squad headed to the College of St. Mary Monday evening, and the ball did not bounce the Bethany's way.

The Swedes found themselves down by seven at the half, and were unable to stop the strong CSM offensive attack as Bethany gave up 57 second half points, losing 91-59. Bethany was out rebounded 43-36 and had 19 turnovers.

"We really didn't do a very good job defensively," said head coach Jim Campion. "They had some good shooters, but we didn't defend the perimeter. I am kind of disappointed in our defensive effort Monday night."

Junior Claire Cole had a game-high 24 points as sophomore Rhys Pihl tacked on 14 points. Cole and R. Pihl snagged 13 and nine rebounds, respectively. Senior Jade Pihl tallied four assists and freshman Emily Dwerlkotte added three. R. Pihl and freshman Nicole Felker each had two steals on the night.

The Swedes are now 1-5 overall. They head to Mid-America Christian University on Monday, November 30 at 6 p.m. Bethany will kick off their conference schedule on Thursday, December 3 by hosting Friends University before heading to Sterling College on Saturday, December 5. Tip offs are set for 6 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
