On a four game winning streak, the Bethany College men's basketball team kicked off the week with a trip to McPherson Thursday night.
McPherson controlled the tempo in the first half of Thursday night's game, walking into halftime with a seven-point lead over Bethany. The Swedes came back to tie the game down the stretch, and senior Rodd Williams hit a free-throw with less than ten seconds left in the game for Bethany's first lead of the game, and the Swedes went on to upset McPherson 73-72, securing third place in the KCAC.
The Swedes ended the week with a road trip to Ottawa University Saturday evening.
Bethany again found themselves playing catch-up in the first half against Ottawa, and went into halftime down by four. However, the Swedes it their stride in the second half, using their comeback fashion to grab a 62-59 victory over the Braves, their sixth win in a row.
Senior Rodd Williams had a game-high 15 points, followed by senior C.J. Littlejohn with 12 and junior Vincent Ferguson tacked on 11. Littlejohn snagged 11 rebounds while senior Brandon Miller grabbed ten and senior Jason Schneider tallied nine. Littlejohn totaled four assists on the night as Schneider and Miller each had three. Williams snuck four steals as Littlejohn and Miller each contributed three.
Bethany is now 9-5 in the KCAC, in third place, and 13-11 overall. The squad hosts Tabor College on Thursday, February 11 at 8 p.m. and rival Kansas Wesleyan University on senior night on Saturday, February 13 at 7 p.m.
