With their season now in full swing, the Bethany College men's indoor track and field team hit the road and headed south to compete in the University of Central Missouri Mule Relays on February 5-6.
"The men competed very well," said head coach Aaron Davis. "The last two weeks, we have emphasized competing with a chip on your shoulder, and the men top to bottom did just that. Hugo placed third in the 400m, Joe and Richard both PRed in the shot, as well as Nicholas O'Laughlin in the 800m. John Zamora got back on track with a great 60m time as well. Milton Collins is also becoming one of the faster 200m runners in our conference."
Junior Joe King and freshman Richard Stephens took 25th and 27th in the men's shot put, respectively. Freshman Jake Walker took seventh in the men's triple jump with a 13.19 performance in the finals. Juniors John Zamora finished 18th in the 60m dash as Theron Allen took 39th. Sophomores Milton Collins placed 41st, DeWayne Autry was 48th, and Walker finished 56th. Senior Hugo Escobar placed third in the men's 400m dash at 52.21. Sophomore Ty Bieker finished 20th at 54.77. Junior Nick O'Laughlin placed seventh in the men's 800m run with a 2:00.67 performance. Freshman Joe Jedrzejewski finished 22nd at 2:13.73. In the men's 200m dash, Collins took tenth at 23.04 and Zamora was 19th at 23.45. Autry finished 30th at 23.88 and Walker was 49th at 24.80.
The men's 4x440 ‘A' relay team of O'Loughlin, Escobar, Zamora, and Bieker placed seventh with a time of 3:33.57. The ‘B' relay team of junior Jesse Muntz, Autry, Collins, and Jedrzejewski finished 17th with a time of 3:47.82.
"Just the guys competed this weekend," Davis said. "The women couldn't make it up on Friday because of the weather."
The Swedes next compete at Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Okla. On Saturday, February 13.
