Sophomore Jack Schoeman came away with a doubles win with partner Will Wiseman

The Bethany College men's tennis team kicked off their 2010 campaign this past weekend. The Swedes faced Collin County Community College in an exhibition Saturday morning before taking on NCAA Division II University of Arkansas-Fort Smith.
 

Bethany struggled against the Lions, falling 8-1.

In doubles action, freshman Shane Huggins and sophomore Kody Koester fell 8-1 while sophomores Will Wiseman and Jack Schoeman came out with an 8-5 victory. Freshman Fernmando Paiva and senior Derek Watson dropped an 8-4 contest.

In singles play, Huggins lost 7-5, 6-3 as Schoeman fell 6-2, 6-3. Paiva was defeated 6-3, 6-1 as Watson, Bethany lost 6-1, 6-1. Wiseman suffered 6-2, 6-2 loss while freshman Caleb Jeff was defeated 7-6, 6-0.

The Swedes then faced Dallas Baptist University. Bethany again could not come out victorious as they fell 5-1 to the Patriots.

Bethany is now 0-2 overall. The Swedes head to Wichita State University on Friday, February 26 for a 2 p.m. match-up.
