Looking for their first win of the 2010 season, the Bethany College men's tennis team traveled to Wichita State University on Friday for a 2 p.m. match.
In Wichita State's first outdoor tennis match, the Shockers swept the Swedes 7-0.
In singles action, Sven Kasper (WSU) defeated freshman Shane Huggins 6-0, 6-2. Valentin Mihai (WSU) topped sophomore Jack Schoeman 6-2, 6-1 while Matheus Pereira (WSU) beat freshman Fernando Baiva 6-2, 6-1. Jonathan Obrist (WSU) handed sophomore Kody Koester a 6-0, 6-0 loss. Adrian Chermaci (WSU) defeated sophomore Will Wiseman 6-3, 6-0 as David Cavalcanti (WSU) beat senior Derek Watson 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles play, Mihai/Marinescu (WSU) handed Schoeman/Wiseman an 8-3 loss. Mihai/Pereira (WSU) beat Baiva/Watson 8-3 and Obrist/Cavalcanti (WSU) defeated Koester/Caleb 8-1.
Bethany is now 0-3 overall. They next host Concordia University at Oakdale Park in Salina on Friday, March 5 at 3 p.m.
