The ninth-seeded Bethany College women's basketball team headed to the University of St. Mary on Monday, February 22 for their KCAC post-season play-in game.

Bethany came out firing in the first half, finding their hot shooting hand and going into halftime with a 10-point lead. The Swedes stayed ahead in the second half and held the Spires to only 26 points, breaking their five game losing streak and moving on in the KCAC post-season with a 66-53 win over USM.

 

Sophomore Rhys Pihl scored a team high 14 points, followed by senior Amber Dunham with 12. Senior Jade Pihl and junior Cathy Wade each added 10 points. Wade and R. Pihl snagged seven rebounds each. J. Pihl tallied seven assists, followed by R. Pihl and freshman Emily Dwerlkotte with five apiece. R. Pihl contributed four steals while Dunham and Wade each tacked on two.

The Swedes then headed to Sterling College on Thursday, February 24 at 7 p.m. for the next round of the playoffs.

The Warriors came out hot as the Swedes struggled to stay afloat, and Bethany walked into halftime down by 21. Sterling kept on rolling in the second half and handed the Swedes an 82-45 loss, ending Bethany's season.

R. Pihl scored nine points on the night, followed by Wade and junior Claire Cole with eight apiece and Dunham with six. Wade snagged five rebounds as Dunham, Dwerlkotte, junior Crysta Stensaas, and sophomore Nicole Ohnsat all contributed three. J. Pihl tallied three assists on the night while R. Pihl and Wade totaled two each. Wade snuck two steals in the contest.

Bethany ends their season at 5-13 in the KCAC, in eighth place, and 9-21 overall.
