After a season-long preparation, the Bethany College indoor track and field team headed to the NAIA Indoor Nationals in Johnson City, Tenn. March 4-6.

Junior Jesse Muntz placed eighth in the men's heptathlon. Muntz ran a 7.63 60m, recorded a 6.12m long jump, threw 11.12m in the shot put, and jumped a 1.93m in the high jump. On day two, he ran a 9.08 60m hurdle, recorded a 3.75m pole vault, and completed the 1000m in a time of 2:58.26.

"Jesse PRed in the heptathlon," said head coach Aaron Davis. "He worked very hard all year and it paid off. I n outdoor, he should improve on his placing from indoor."

Sophomore Mollie Dahl finished seventh in the women's shot put at 13.87m.

"Mollie had a huge PR to put her in 7th," Davis said. "She really showed up at Nationals."

The men's relay team of junior Nick O'Loughlin, senior Hugo Escobar and sophomores Tomas Ortiz Milton Collins competed in the preliminary rounds and finished with a time of 3:25.05. However, the team did not advance to the finals.

"The men's 4x4 ran well," said Davis, "but didn't make it out of finals, but fought hard."

O'Loughlin ran in the men's 600m with a time of 1:22.91, placing 17th in the prelims.

"Nick ran well and was only a couple tenths off from breaking another school record," said Davis, "but it still wasn't good enough to get him out of prelims in the 600m."

Junior Jackie Rogers finished 17th in the women's weight throw prelims at 15.55m.

"Jackie put it all together at nationals and was very close to making it to the finals, but just missed out," Davis said. "Overall they competed very well. If a couple of things would have gone our way, we would have had some more All-Americans to add to the list, but I can't complain about how they competed."
