Kelby Brown, freshman, Rossville, Kan., has been named Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Player of the Week for week one.
Against Bethel College Dec. 2, Brown had 24 points, six rebounds, was 62 percent from the field and 70 percent from the line. The Swedes beat Bethel 105-95 in the season’s KCAC opener.

The Swedes are 1-0 in conference play and 4-2 overall. They next play Kansas Wesleyan Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. and McPherson College Dec. 9 at 7:00 p.m. Both are home games.

Bethany basketball has risen to national prominence since 1999, having been nationally ranked four seasons. The basketball Swedes have played in the NAIA National Tournament in 1999, 2000 and 2003 after winning the KCAC Tournament Championship. In 2003 the Swedes played in the NAIA Championship game.
Bethany College competes in 15 intercollegiate sports in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.  Since 1902, Bethany has won 140 conference championships.
