The Bethany College golf team hit the road to compete in the Northwood Spring Invitational at Thorntree Country Club in DeSoto, Texas on Monday and Tuesday, April 5-6.
The Swedes placed sixth out of eight teams in the event. Bethany shot 38, 318, and 331,finishing 957 at +93.
Senior Leslie Bonvillain tied for ninth after shooting 77, 79, and 77, finishing 233 at +17. Sophomore Jack Hiscock tied for 12th. Hiscock shot 74, 75, 88, ending 237 at +21. Freshman Chris McManus finished 34th after an 80, 81, and 87 performance, good for an overall 248 at +32. Senior Thomas Fernandes tied for 35th, shooting an 80, 83, and 86, finishing 249 at +33.
"We competed well the first two rounds against the best in the country and then the third round we completely forgot how to play the game and embarrassed ourselves," said head coach Jon Daniels. "We need to learn how to complete a tournament and not play one or two good rounds only to play extremely poor in one round and take us out of the tournament."
The Swedes compete today and Tuesday in Oklahoma City.
