The Bethany College tennis team scrimmaged Hesston College on Monday, April 5, shutting out the Larks 9-0.

"We had beaten Hesston 9-0 earlier in the week against a much improved Hesston team," said head coach Vic Bateman. "We didn't play very well in the doubles but pulled out 3 tight ones on the men's side. The women had all straight set wins."

Bethany kicked off their 2010 conference schedule with a trip to Hillsboro to take on Tabor College Saturday morning.

The Swedes started their KCAC season strong as the Bethany men and women both defeated Tabor 9-0.

"Both teams played well against a solid Tabor team," Bateman said. "Valentina Puchkova had a big win at #3 against a solid Tabor player 6-1, 6-3."

The Swede men are now 1-0 in the KCAC and 4-4 overall while the women are 1-0 in the KCAC and 3-3 overall. The squad host Friends University on Monday, April 12 and next host Kansas Wesleyan University on Thursday, April 15 at 3 p.m. Bethany ends the week with a trip to Southwestern College on Saturday, April 17 at 9 a.m.
