The Bethany College softball team traveled to MidAmerica Nazarene University on Monday, April 26 for an evening doubleheader.

MNU jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after three innings before tallying a three-run sixth inning. The Swedes began a comeback in the seventh, plating one run, but were unable to muster any more as they fell 5-1.

Senior Morgan Evans had two hits in the contest as freshman Brittany Lewis and senior Emily Zimmerman each contributed one. Evans had the lone Bethany RBI.

Sophomore Stephanie Tyler got the start for the Swedes, allowing two earned runs off five hits. Freshman Allison Ruicker came in as relief, giving up three earned runs off six hits.

In game two, the Pioneers used one run in the second, fourth, and sixth to defeat Bethany 3-0.

Freshman Nicole Felker had the lone Swede hit. Senior Becka Hileman got the start, holding MNU scoreless for one inning before freshman Melanie Gray came in as relief, allowing two earned runs off six hits.

The Swedes then headed to Hillsboro to compete in the KCAC conference tournament on Thursday.

Bethany faced Sterling College in the first round of the tournament. The Swedes squeaked by the Warriors with a 2-1 victory.

The Swedes then faced Friends University Thursday evening. Bethany jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Friends cut the lead to one after the first inning. The Swedes added a run in the fifth and sixth, securing a 4-1 win over the Falcons.

Bethany faced Ottawa University in the semi finals Friday morning. The Swedes had a 2-0 lead in the seventh before back-to-back Brave singles led to a three-run walk off home run as Bethany fell to Ottawa 3-2.

The Swedes then battled against Friends University Saturday afternoon. However, the deflating loss to Ottawa proved too much for Bethany as they lost to Friends 8-3, ending the Swedes' season.

Bethany ends the season at 12-4 in the KCAC regular season, in third place, and 23-18 overall.
