The Bethany College track and field team competed at the Emporia State University Last Chance meet on Saturday, May 15th. This meet was the last chance to qualify for or better the athletes' standings for the 2010 NAIA Outdoor National Championships that will be held in Marion, Ind. May 27-29.
Two athletes took first place finishes. Sophomore Jenna Koch took first place in the women's discus throw with a throw of 47.22m (154'11") and senior Amber Dunham took first place in the women's shot-put with a throw of 13.84m (45'5"). Dunham's throw also bettered her standings for nationals.
Also competing at ESU Last Chance were: Freshman, Ashley Liddell- 100m Hurdles- 15.99- 7th Place and 400m Dash- 1:02.86- 3rd Place Sophomore, Shane Valdez- Long Jump- 4.97m (16'3.75")- 10th Place Sophomore, Mollie Dahl- Shot Put- 13.55m (44'5.5")- 3rd Place Sophomore, Jenna Koch- Shot-Put- 11.94m (39'2.25")- 14th Place Sophomore, Hannah Hemberger- Hammer- 42.36m (139')- 14th Place Junior, Jackie Rogers- Hammer- 43.80m (143'8")- 11th Place Junior, Nick O'Loughlin- 400m Dash- 50.06- 3rd Place Senior, Gilda Alvarez- Discus- 38.22m (125'5")- 9th Place Senior, Amber Dunham- Javelin- 38.96m (125'9")- 7th Place Senior, Jesse Muntz- 110m Hurdles- 15.84- 9th Place Men's 4x400m Relay Team (Ty Bieker, Tomas Ortiz, Milton Collins, and Nick O'Loughlin)- 3:27.69
