Joe Wilkerson - Head Coach

Certified by USA Track & Field (USATF) as a Level 2 coach in the jumps and the throws and as a Level 1 Instructor, Coach Wilkerson began directing the Bethany College program in 2001 after 15 years of coaching track & field as a head or assistant coach at Liberal High School.

Named 2006 KCAC Women's Track & Field Coach of the Year, he has dedicated himself to helping athletes improve as he has been a personal trainer for many high school athletes who have achieved national recognition and has coached numerous high school athletes who have become High School All-Americans.
 
Furthermore, he has coached at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA, and has spoken and been involved in track & field clinics at Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University and Kansas State University.

While competing for Dodge City Community College, Coach Wilkerson held school records in the triple jump and as part of the 4 X 200m relay team. He graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees in secondary education and physical education from Saint Mary of the Plains College which was located in Dodge City.

Coach Wilkerson and wife Michele have two children, Christopher and Rachelle.
 


Alan Webb - Assistant Coach

An active member in USATF, Coach Webb is Level 2 certified in the endurance events and in the sprints/hurdles/relays, is certified as a Level 1 Instructor, and is currently working on his Level 3 Endurance Certification. As the former USATF Missouri Valley Youth Chair, he helped in the development and promotion of youth cross country/track & field meets throughout Kansas and the western half of Missouri.

Coach Webb began directing the Running Swedes in 2005 after coaching high school cross country, basketball and track & field, serving as either head coach or as an assistant for 13 years. In addition, he has served as coach for Kansas track clubs in Emporia, Carbondale and Topeka as well as for a club in Fremont, NE.

At Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Webb competed in cross country and track & field, earning all-conference honors in track & field

Coach Webb graduated Magna Cum Laude from Midland Lutheran, receiving Bachelor of Arts degrees in secondary education, English and language arts as well as a coaching endorsement.
