Matt Tramel - Head Coach

Head Coach Matt Tramel enters his fifth season at the helm of the Bethany Swedes. In the past four seasons, he has guided the Swedes on an amazing run with a combined record of 161 victories and 66 losses; a .725 winning percentage.
 
In Coach Tramel's past four seasons, the Swedes were the KCAC champions in 2005 and again in 2007. He was named KCAC Coach of the Year 3 out of 4 years. In the last three years, the Swedes have broken the conference record for wins with over 40 in each year. This is a feat that has never been accomplished by any other KCAC school. During this run, the Swedes also qualified for three straight NAIA regional appearances. This is also an accomplishment that no other KCAC school has achieved.
 
Prior to arriving at Bethany , Coach Tramel was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Northwestern Oklahoma State University for five seasons. In those years, he helped build the Rangers into one of the top programs in NAIA baseball. He also coached two seasons at a junior-college power Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA. It was here that he served as head assistant baseball coach as well as interim head baseball coach.
 
Coach Tramel has coached numerous All-Americans from NAIA and NJCAA. He is also proud of the fact that he has coached over 30 All-American Scholar Athletes. He has also worked with more than 25 athletes who have gone on to sign professional contracts at all different levels.
 
He believes in building a foundation for the student/athlete and to help his players grow as young men. Coach Tramel’s strong commitment to the players being successful has not only shown on the field and in school, but it has shown in everyday life.
 
Coach Tramel is a native of Pryor, Ok.  He currently resides in Salina, KS with his wife TeAna, who is also the head volleyball coach at Bethany.



Adrian Dinkel - Associate Head Coach
 
Adrian Dinkel enters his third season with the Swedes. He will serve as Associate Head Coach/Pitching Coach, and will be in charge of recruiting. The Swedes have had the top pitching staff in the KCAC while Coach Dinkel has been at the helm of the Bethany pitching staff. Because the Swedes pitching staff has lead the country in the least hits allowed per game and been in the top 5 in least walks allowed, the Swedes pitching staff is considered among the elite pitching staffs in NAIA.
 

Since joining the coaching staff the Swedes have won 128 games and compiling a .744 winning percentage. Along with that they have won two titles in the past three seasons.


In Coach Dinkel's past two seasons with the Swedes he has coached many KCAC all-conference performers, four NAIA All-Americans, and numerous All-Region players. 
 
Coach Dinkel has also had stints with three American Legion programs in the state of Utah.
He also works with The Rocky Mountain School of Baseball that involves doing camps to many western states. In Coach Dinkel's time coaching he has also help send 12 guys to the professional ranks at many different levels.
 
Coach Dinkel's playing career began at Cyprus High School in Magna, UT where he was considered one of the top players in the state. He earned a scholarship where he spent two years in junior college before moving on to Bethany College. It was here that he helped lead the Swedes to the KCAC championship as well as the programs highest national ranking, becoming an All-Conference performer prior to taking over Swedes pitching duties. 
 
Coach Dinkel has graduated with a degree in health and physical education K-12 from Bethany College.
 
"Coach Dinkel is one of the top young coaches around and has a tremendous future in front of him." said Coach Tramel. "His pitching knowledge has assisted our pitchers into getting the most out of their abilities and in turn, meaning more wins."

Coach Dinkel is 26 and is from Magna ,Utah .

 


Brandon Harrington - Assistant Coach
Brandon Harrington enters his 1st season with the Swedes. 
 
Coach Harrington will help over see duties with outfielders and hitters. Coach Harrington will also serve as bench coach.
 
Brandon spent two seasons with the Swedes before joining it's staff. During his playing days Brandon was known for his powerful bat. Having the opprutunity to play at the next level the dream was cut short do to nagging injuries. Brandon was known by many as the "red hammer"

Coach Harrinton Graduated this past fall with a Degree from Bethany College.
 
Coach Harrington is from Denver, CO 

Joey Martinson - Assistant Coach
 Joey Martinson enters his second season as an Assistant Coach/Assistant Pitching Coach. Prior to coach duties, Coach Martinson played two seasons at Salt Lake City Community College and a season at Bethany College; he garnered All-American honors as well as being named Bethany College athlete of the year in 2006. 
 
Joey Martinson was a 23rd round draft pick of the Texas Rangers. He has signed a contract to play professional baseball.

“Coach Martinson will be bringing a fresh outlook to our young pitchers,” said Coach Tramel. “He will be assisting are team as well as Coach Dinkel with the pitchers and this will only help in our players success.”

Coach Martinson is 24 and is from Salt Lake City, UT.  Joey and his wife, Taylor, currenlty reside in Lindsborg, KS.
