Bethany Athletic Association

Fall/Winter Newsletter

Dear Go Swedes Member:

Goals:

Uniting the older and younger alumni and friends of Bethany Athletics into a team

Enhance awareness: Bonding of the alumni-athletes, rekindle the fire and passion of Bethany student athletics.

Enhance Communication: Keeping our alumni involved and informed of the status of Bethany athletics.

Supporting the operating budget: Financially supporting specific sports and general athletic budgets through the general fund.

Reduce the chances of more athletic department budget cuts and/or reduction of sports.

Advancing Bethany Athletics: Provide an opportunity for alumni-athletes, family members and friends to financially support the giving stream of the Bethany Athletic Association.

The Bethany Athletic Association would like to congratulate Jack "Horse" Webb as the first receipt of the BAA Award of Merit. Webb is a 1952 graduate of Bethany College. While at Bethany he earned a degree in history and lettered all four years in both football and track. He received his master's in education administration from Colorado State and Oklahoma State Universities. Webb went on to teach history and coach in Kansas and Oklahoma. He has served as a principal and superintendent and is also a member of the Oklahoma Educator and Administrator Hall of Fame.
To be nominated for this award one must be an active BAA member and be nominated by fellow BAA members. This person must have demonstrated meritorious service to youth or their career. All nominations must be approved by the BAA selection committee. If you know someone who fits these requirements please email me at
crucea@bethanylb.edu.
Thank you once again to all of those who made the multi-purpose athletic facility/artificial turf field possible. We continue to raise money to meet our goal; however, I know the coaches and players were very appreciative of the new turf field with all the rainy weather this fall.
