The Bethany College Department of Athletics is contracted through 2016 with Rocking M Radio in Salina, Kan., naming KVOB-FM 95.5 The Rock and Rocking M Radio as the official radio station of Bethany College.
Rocking M Radio provides play-by-play broadcasts of: football games, men's and women's conference and tournament basketball games, baseball and softball KCAC Tournament games, and select baseball and softball games.
Live broadcasts are aired on 95.5 The Rock, KVOB-FM with James Westling as play-by-play announcer and Levi Esses as color commentator. Broadcasts can also be heard online at http://www.salina-radio.com.
Additional features include pre-game shows aired prior to each football and basketball game, showcasing interviews with coaches, players, and a breakdown of that week's Bethany College athletic contests.

Meet James Westling
James Westling has served as the Bethany Swedes Radio play-by-play announcer since the fall of 2009, is currently in his sixth season as "Voice of the Swedes."
Westling is originally from Topeka, Kan. and graduated from Washburn Rural High School. He then attended Kansas State University and was the Sports Director for KSDB Manhattan, the on campus K-State student station, from 2007-2008.
Upon graduation, Westling was hired as the Operations Manager for KIUL/KYUL in Garden City, Kan. and was the radio play-by-play announcer for Garden City Community College during the 2008-2009 sports season. Westling traveled with the Broncbusters as they made a NJCAA National Tournament run in Hutchinson, Kan. in March 2009.
Hired in April 2009, Westling is currently the Operations Manager for Rocking M. Radio, Inc.'s cluster of stations in Salina, Great Bend, and Hays, Kan. He operates KVOB-FM, 95.5 The Rock, KZUH-FM, 92.7 The New Zoo, and KDJM-FM, 101.7 Real Country in Salina, Kan as well as four other stations in Great Bend and Hays.
Westling graduated from Kansas State University in 2008 with a B.S. in Mass Communications and a minor in Leadership Studies.
Meet Levi Esses
Levi Esses has been Associate Dean for Student Development/Director of First Year Initiatives at Bethany College since 2013. He is responsible for the oversight and organizing, managing, and directing a comprehensive system of the First Year Initiative (FYI), co-coordinating the Quest program, leading college retention efforts, and planning and executing new student orientation. Esses also oversees the student Pathfinders, Resident Director/FYI, and teaches a Quest section.
Esses is a 2002 graduate of Bethany, and began his career at Bethany in spring 2002 as Director of Residence Life/Assistant Football Coach. From 2004-2007, he taught high school math and coached. From 2007-2013, Esses was employed by Kansas State University-Salina as Assistant Director of Student Services, overseeing residence life, student activities, student government, and counseling services.
Esses earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in secondary math education in 2002 and a Master of Education from Wichita State University.
Outside of his responsibilities on campus, Levi is in his fifth season color commentating for Bethany Swedes Radio for football and basketball games, and is a volunteer assistant coach for the Swedes softball team. Levi and his wife Janice, a 2001 Bethany graduate and the Head Softball Coach of the Swedes, enjoy spending time together with family and friends and are deeply committed to Lindsborg and the Bethany community.
