Womens Basketball Recruit Information
Bethany College Women's Basketball

Information For Recruits
Thank of you for your interest in the Bethany women's basketball program!  Playing basketball at the college level and especially at Bethany College is a unique opportunity.  It takes a special individual become a member of our team.

According to Coach Mittelsteadt,
"We want people who are committed to the personalized atmosphere and individualized education that Bethany can offer.  We look for not only talented players, but also quality students who are willing to immerse themselves in both the basketball program and campus community."
The coaching staff invests a great deal of time and energy in selection and recruitment of student-athletes for our program.  We want to know as much as we can about you before you get here.   For interested players, we would suggest the following:

1) Contact us.  While we invariably try to see as many potential recruits as possible at throughout the year, it's virtually impossible for our staff to know and see every player.  Fill out our Recruit Questionnaire so we can have as much information about you to begin with as possible.  In addition, feel free to contact Head Coach Greg Mittelsteadt via email at wbbcoach@bethanylb.edu.

2) Make a visit to campus.  The best way to know if you could see yourself here for 4 years is to get on campus and see for yourself.  During your time here, we're going to try and provide you with a snapshot of life as a Bethany college student-athlete.  You'll tour the campus, visit with a professor, enjoy lunch in the cafeteria, and have a chance to visit with the Bethany coaching staff and players.

3) Coordinate with the coaching staff
so that we're able to see you play.  Coach Mittelsteadt spends much of the summer on the recruiting trail and is a fixture at many of the summer MAYB and AAU tournaments.  So, send us your high school and summer schedules so we can include you on our WATCH LIST.   Whether we get to see you in person or not, please send us a highlight or game tape.  We want to know as much about you as possible and prefer to see you both on film and in person so we can have a true grasp of your abilities and potential.

4) If possible, see us play.  It's very beneficial to you as a potential player to see us play and get a first hand perspective of our level and style of play, as well as the atmosphere surrounding a game.  Just give us a call or email, so we make sure we have a chance to visit with you at our game.

Timing
We spend portions of a player's junior winter, spring, and summer, and then the first half of a player's senior year in high school to evaluate players and their fit to Bethany College and our basketball program.  We like to thin the group we're interested in to between 20 and 25 players by mid-fall, and then spend a good portion of time getting to know these players better, while they do the same with us.  Ideally, we'll be finished sometime between April or May; having by that time offered scholarships and roster spots to the number of players we're looking for in that particular year.
