Womens Soccer Recruiting Information

Bethany College Swede Soccer

For Recruits

We are committed to finding top level players who fit Bethany as a small, private, intimate, liberal arts college.  The team is chosen through the recruiting process as opposed to open tryouts when school starts, so it is important for interested high school juniors and seniors to understand that process. For interested players, we would suggest the following:

1) Contact us.  While we invariably try to see as many potential recruits as possible at various club and high school venues, it’s virtually impossible for our staff to know and see every player.  Fill out our Recruit Questionnaire so we can have as much information about you to begin with as possible.  In addition, feel free to contact Head Coach Steve Moore via email at moores@bethanylb.edu.

2) Make a visit to campus.  The best way to know if you could see yourself here for 4 years is to get on campus and see for yourself.  During your time here, we’re going to do our part to show you as best we can what it would be like to be a soccer player at Bethany.  This would include meeting with a professor, going through a practice with the team, meeting with the coach, as well as some down time just hanging out with some of the current players.

3) Coordinate with the coaching staff so that we’re able to see you play.  Our staff gets out to a number of showcase events each year, such as The Colorado Showcase, The Texas Shootout, KC Legends Showcase, The Sam Shannon Showcase, The Texas Cup, as well as other regional tournaments and high school games.  If you let us know in advance, we can try to come see one of your games specifically.  If you’re unable to make any of the tournaments we attend, send us a highlight or game tape.  Looking at a tape gives us at least something to go on, which should be valuable in evaluating your ability to play here.

4) If possible, see us play.  It’s very beneficial to you as a potential player to see us play and get a first hand perspective of our level and style of play, as well as the atmosphere surrounding a game.

Timing
We spend potions of a player’s junior winter, spring, and summer, and then the first half of a player’s senior year in high school to evaluate players and their fit to Bethany College and our soccer program.  We like to thin the group we’re interested in to between 20 and 25 players by mid-fall, and then spend a good portion of time getting to know these players better, while they do the same with us.  Ideally, we’ll be finished sometime between February and March; having by that time offered scholarships and roster spots to the number of players we’re looking for in that particular year.
