Mark Carvalho - Assistant Coach
Mark “Carv” Carvalho enters his first season as an assistant coach to the Bethany Swedes, but he is no stranger to the league or the region. As head baseball coach at Friends University, Coach Carv was the winningest coach in Falcon history with 231 wins. His team won the 2004 KCAC Championship, Region 4 Runner-up and had a 38-14 record overall. He has won three championship while at Friends.
He has also coached the USA Athletes teams that have gone to Belgium and Aruba twice. Coach Carv will be working with the hitters and giving his over-25 year of coaching experience to the Swede players.
As a player, he was a two-year starter at Cowley Country Community College and transferred to Wichita State University where a series of injuries ended his playing career.
“Coach Carvalho is one of the most respected coaches in America,” Coach Tramel said. “His knowledge and experience is invaluable and we are very fortunate to have with us.”
Coach Carv is originally from New Jersey, but went to high school in Arkansas City, KS and now resides with his family in Wichita.
