Matt Tramel - Head Coach

Head Coach Matt Tramel enters his fifth season at the helm of the Bethany Swedes. In the past four seasons, he has guided the Swedes on an amazing run with a combined record of 161 victories and 66 losses; a .725 winning percentage.

In Coach Tramel's past four seasons, the Swedes were the KCAC champions in 2005 and again in 2007. He was named KCAC Coach of the Year 3 out of 4 years. In the last three years, the Swedes have broken the conference record for wins with over 40 in each year. This is a feat that has never been accomplished by any other KCAC school. During this run, the Swedes also qualified for three straight NAIA regional appearances. This is also an accomplishment that no other KCAC school has achieved.

Prior to arriving at Bethany , Coach Tramel was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Northwestern Oklahoma State University for five seasons. In those years, he helped build the Rangers into one of the top programs in NAIA baseball. He also coached two seasons at a junior-college power Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA. It was here that he served as head assistant baseball coach as well as interim head baseball coach.

Coach Tramel has coached numerous All-Americans from NAIA and NJCAA. He is also proud of the fact that he has coached over 30 All-American Scholar Athletes. He has also worked with more than 25 athletes who have gone on to sign professional contracts at all different levels.

He believes in building a foundation for the student/athlete and to help his players grow as young men. Coach Tramel’s strong commitment to the players being successful has not only shown on the field and in school, but it has shown in everyday life.

Coach Tramel is a native of Pryor, Ok.  He currently resides in Salina, KS with his wife TeAna, who is also the head volleyball coach at Bethany.
