The Bethany College baseball team continued their season this past week in hopes of grabbing their first "W" of 2010.

Bethany hosted Benedictine College on their home field Sunday night. The Bethany bats heated up as the Swedes finally hit their stride, shutting out Benedictine for a 7-0 win, their first of 2010.

Looking for their first win of 2010, the Bethany College baseball team headed to NCAA Division II Fort Hays State University Thursday afternoon.

The Swedes stayed with FHSU in game one as the contest was tied at one before the Swede bats caught fire in the sixth inning, scoring five runs, including a three-run homer from senior Daryl Schlepp. However, the Tigers posted a comeback as they scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth, five of those runs with two outs, handing the Swedes a 9-6 loss.

The Bethany College baseball team, looking for their first "W" of the 2010 campaign after dropping a doubleheader with Wayland Baptist, headed to the undefeated University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma this past weekend. The squad faced USAO on a doubleheader Saturday afternoon.

As winter is still looming over the heads of many, it is hard to believe that baseball season has begun. But, the Bethany College baseball team has been hard at work in hopes of the return of a winning program. After a 6-18 KCAC record, finishing in last place, and 17-32 overall in 2009, the Swedes have set high, yet attainable goals for 2010.
