Spring is just around the corner. And the Bethany College men's golf team already has their goals in mind.

"I would hope to contend for the conference title and be nationally ranked," said head coach Jon Daniels, "and continue to the national championships."

With their first tournament win under their belt at their invitational in Salina at the beginning of the month, the Bethany College golf team loaded up and headed west to Colorado for the final tournament of the fall season.

The Swedes competed in Aurora, Colo. in a tournament hosted by the Colorado School of Mines.

Recently ranked 22nd nationally in Golf World's annual College Preview issue, the Bethany College golf team hit the green this past week. The squad hosted their Bethany Fall Invitational in Salina on October 5.

Bethany grabbed their first tournament win of the fall as their number one team took the title, shooting 285 in round one and 288 in round 3. The Swedes finished with a 573, good for nine over, but well in front of Hastings College, who ended at 32 over.

The Bethany College golf team traveled to Winfield to compete in the South Central Kansas Fall Invitational this past week. The Swedes finished in fifth place with a total of 317 in round one and 320 in round two, combining for a 637. Senior Leslie Bonvillain tied for fourth after shooting a 77 in round one and 76 in round two for a total of 153.

NEW YORK, NY-Golf World has published the results of its latest preseason College Coaches' Polls and its list of the Top 50 male and female "Players to Watch." The content, which is part of Golf World's annual College Preview issue, will be featured in the September 7 issue of the magazine and can be viewed online at www.golfworld.com.
