SWEDES FALL TO THE PANTHERS
York, Neb. - The Bethany College Men's Basketball team traveled to York University for a conference matchup against the Panthers. The Swedes broke their four game win streak with a 65-74 loss to the Panthers.
The first half did not let any one team take the momentum. The Swedes scored first and were in the lead by a couple points but the Panthers stayed close behind. Both teams inched forward and ended the first half tied at 28.
The second half started on the same trend, Bethany led York by a point or two and the game would be tied back up. York took the lead with 14:46 left on the clock making the score 37-38. The Swedes worked back and tied the game up once again at 42 with 12:54 left on the clock. The Panthers then broke open the score, going on an eight point run (42-50). A layup from Donovan Newton and a 3-point shot by Josh Smith closed the gap, making the score 62-66 with 54 seconds left on the clock. The Swedes were forced to foul the Panthers, ending the game 65-74.
Leading the Swedes was Donovan Newton scoring 15 points off the bench and 2 assists. Solomon Clayton scored 14 points and had 1 block, followed by Josh Smith who scored 13 points and had five rebounds.
The Swedes had 9 total assists and forced 22 turnovers on the Panthers, resulting in 18 points from turnovers. Bethany scored 30 bench points and had a higher shooting percentage from behind the 3 point line than the Panthers.

The Swedes will be back on the wood Tuesday, December 13th against Southwestern College. Tip off is set for 8:00 PM in Hahn Gymnasium against the Jinx.
