Bio

Bethany College assistant men’s basketball coach Aaron Havis joined the Swedes coaching staff ahead of the 2025-26 season and serves as the program’s lead assistant coach.

Havis brings a strong background in recruiting, player development, scouting, and program operations with experience across multiple NAIA programs. Throughout his coaching career, he has contributed to championship teams while developing a reputation for talent evaluation, relationship building, film analysis, and student-athlete development.

At Bethany, Havis oversees recruiting efforts, player evaluations, campus visits, scouting reports, game preparation, and practice planning. He also serves as the head coach of the Swedes Development Team, directs player development initiatives, and oversees strength and conditioning efforts for the program.

Prior to Bethany, Havis spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Bellevue University from 2023-25. During his tenure, the Bruins captured the 2023-24 North Star Athletic Association regular season and conference tournament championships while earning a berth in the NAIA National Tournament. At Bellevue, Havis assisted with recruiting, scouting, travel coordination, film analysis, and player development.

Before Bellevue, Havis served as an assistant coach and head junior varsity coach at Doane University from 2021-23. While with the Tigers, he recruited for the program, developed scouting reports, and assisted the varsity program during a conference record-tying season. He also helped mentor multiple all-conference student-athletes.

Havis also spent time at Presentation College in 2021 as both an assistant coach and admissions counselor. During his coaching stint, he assisted with recruiting and social media for the program. As an admissions counselor, he worked closely with prospective students and families throughout the admissions process while coordinating campus visits and managing student records.

A former student-athlete at Presentation, Havis was a four-year member of the Saints men’s basketball program from 2017-21. He earned both NAIA Scholar-Athlete and NSAA Scholar-Athlete honors during his collegiate career.

Havis earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Sport and Event Management with a minor in Coaching from Presentation College in 2021. He later completed his Master of Business Administration at Doane University.
