SWEDES WIN 3-1 AT HOME

Lindsborg, Kan.  - The Bethany College Men's Soccer team hosted Doane University at home on Saturday evening. It was a cold and rainy game but the Swedes did not let that affect them as they would go on to win 3-1.

The game would start off good for the visiting team as they would come out strong offensively taking 5 shots on goal early. One of those shots would find the net in the 19th minute of the game giving Doane the early 1-0 lead in the match. Junior keeper Jake Goldstein would bounce back from the goal, saving 2 shots in the half and finishing the game with 8 SOG, 1 GA, and 7 saves. Right before the half completed the Swedes tied the game up at 1-1 on a goal from senior Carlos Zamora assisted by Peter Tu. That would be the only shot the Swedes took in the half and it was a big one carrying momentum into the second half.

In the second half of the game, Doane University continued to take shots as they would attempt 8 in the half. The Tigers would outshoot the Swedes in the game taking 13 shots, while the Swedes would only take 5 for the game. The Swedes made every shot count as they would add 2 more in the half bringing the final score of 3-1. Freshman Peter Tu, would get his first collegiate goal in the 51st minute on an assist by Shaid McLean. Then in the 87th minute of the game freshman, Steven McQueen, would add to the scoring as he got his first off the season on an open field 1v1.

The Swedes played an all around great game and will look to continue to build off the win as they hit the road for two away games next week.
