SWEDES COMPETE IN THE WASHBURN ALUMNI INVITATIONAL

Topeka, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Indoor Track and Field teams opened their season in a different location than usual. This year, the Swedes opened in Topeka, Kan. at the Washburn University Alumni Invitational.

Mercy Ynostrosa got the Swedes started on the right foot with two personal bests in the Women's Shot Put (11.15m) and Weight Throw (12.42m).

On the track, Eli Gruenbacher had the best finish amongst everybody with a fifth-place finish in the Men's 5000m running the event in 16:04.33; a personal best for Gruenbacher.

In total, 10 total freshmen made their college debuts setting 16 personal best records on the evening. As a team, there were a total of 22 personal bests.

The Swedes will get a chance to enjoy Christmas Break before returning to action in Wichita, Kan. as they will compete in the Friends University First Chance Qualifiers on Wichita State University's campus.
