SWEDES WRAP UP REGULAR SEASON WITH ALEX FRANCIS CLASSIC
HAYS, KAN. – The Swedes wrapped up their final track and field meet of the regular season on Friday, April 25, in Hays, Kan. The meet was pushed back a day (Thursday, April 24) to avoid storms in the surrounding area.
With a smaller squad battling less than ideal conditions, the faithful few came away with good final tune-up before the conference meet this upcoming week.
The Swedes were resilient and came away with 12 personal bests, eight event finalists, three top-3 finishes and one event champion.
Head Coach Aaron Yoder: "This was a good indicator that we are ready for the Thursday and Friday championships in Salina, Kan. coming later this week. (I) hope to see everyone at the (KCAC Outdoor Track and Field) Championships this week in Salina."
Leading the charge for the Swedes on the women's side was Cheyenne Sawyer who placed third in the 100m coming away with a personal best of 12.93s. On the men's side, Freshman Ashton Joseph came away with an event win in the shot put with a new PR (personal record) toss of 13.22m. Dylan Bryce placed third in the pole vault and was the Swedes top 100m runner for the day.
