SWEDES CONTINUE TO ROLL; CLIP FALCONS
Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Women's Basketball Team kept the win streak alive as the Swedes would cruise past the Friends University Falcons.
The Swedes would open the game on a 13-5 run led by Kisa Unruh who drained a couple of three-pointers in the period. The Falcons would cut the Bethany lead to two points with a 6-0 run to close the period.
Friends would open the second quarter with a 7-0 run to take a 18-13 after three minutes of play. Bethany would buckle down as Emily Weathers would end the run followed by another Unruh deep-ball to tie it up. Autumn Garrett would make her return from injury and give the Swedes a 20-18 lead with just under five minutes to play before half. There was a total of four lead changes and five ties in the period alone, but the Swedes would go into the half up 28-26.
In the third period of play, Lauren Gleason would score eight points including going two-for-two from downtown to help the Swedes outscore the Falcons 14-10 in the period.
Bethany would outscore Friends 19-13 in the fourth quarter as seven Swedes would contribute. Bethany would win the matchup between two conference contenders 61-49 for their sixth conference win in a row.
Emily Weathers would lead the Swedes in scoring and rebounds with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Lauren Gleason would also score in the double-digits with 10 points. Sarah Reiner would tie Weathers with 5 rebounds. R'Manie Pulling tally 6 assists while Emily Green would record an outstanding 5 steals in the contest.
Although the Swedes had a lower shooting percentage, they would make 25 field goals compared to the Falcons' 18. Bethany would win the turnover battle by a large margin forcing 32 turnovers that led to 27 points compared to Friends who forced 15 turnovers leading to 11 points.

The Swedes have completed the first cycle of conference opponents, so on Wednesday, January 18th, Bethany will cycle through the conference schedule again beginning with a meeting with our rivals up north, the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes. Tipoff is set for 6pm in Hahn Gymnasium.
