WOMEN’S GOLF WINS KCAC CHAMPIONSHIP
Dodge City, Kan. – Although the weather was brutal throughout the week, the Swedes stayed strong and left Mariah Hill Golf Course with a championship and some additional hardware.
The Mariah Hills Golf Course is 6002 yards long with a par score of 72. As for the weather, it was constantly raining with a high of 45 throughout the duration of the tournament. Due to weather being such a factor, the KCAC Championship schedule was shifted to play with the best possible weather. On day one, round one was played entirely with the addition of nine holes for round 2. On day two, round two was completed along with the first nine holes of round three. To begin round three, golfers were given a tee time so that everyone may begin at hole one. On day three, holes 10-18 were played to completion.
On day one, Bethany shot a 313 which was good for a first-place lead by 6 strokes. Ida Lihufvudh shot the best score for the round with a 74 followed closely by Elin Kennborn who shot a 76.
On day two, the Swedes increased their lead by two strokes while shooting a 323 as a team. Lihufvudh shot a team best 78 which was tied for second best score of the round.
On day three, the final 9 holes were played. For round three, Bethany played their best golf as they shot 311 as a team which was the best team score throughout the championship. Jayli Feeley tied for a round-best score of 74.
In the end, the Swedes came out victorious! As a team, they won by 12 strokes with a final stroke count of 947. Not only did they win the team championship, but Ida Lihufvudh won the individual championship for the second year in a row.
Bethany also left with additional hardware as Head Coach Zach Able won Coach of the Year in his first year. The Swedes also had four top-10 finishers in the tournament.

The Swedes have plenty of time to rest up before taking off to Silvis, Ill. to compete in the NAIA Women's Golf Championship which will be played on TPC Deere Run. Play is scheduled to begin on May 23 through May 26.
