SWEDES SWEEP MCC IN HOME OPENER
LINDSBORG, KAN. - The Bethany College Swedes Volleyball team hosted Manhattan Christian College for their first home game of the season. The Swedes came out firing on all cylinders and swept MCC in three sets.
The Swedes started off by getting 2 points on the scoreboard right away. Bethany then went on a 6-point run, putting the Swedes up 8-2. MCC squeezed in a point before the Swedes went another streak and made the score 12-3. The Swedes kept the lead and finished the first set 25-14. The second set started off with MCC in the lead. The Swedes were trailing the Manhattan Christian Thunder until the Swedes went on a 4-point streak, taking the lead 20-18. MCC kept the game close, but the Swedes secured the second set 25-23. The third set consisted of the lead going back and forth between Bethany and MCC. Bethany went from leading 7-4 to trailing MCC 13-17. The Swedes kept chipping away and tied the game back up t 22. From there the Swedes finished strong, securing the third set 25-23.
Alyssa George plaayed a major roll in the Swedes win by having 11 kills and 9 digs on the night. Atlantis Jamerson also contributed to the team win by having 10 kills, 7 digs, and 14 assists. Zola Moore made 7 out of 15 attempted kills, having a .400 kill percentage. Justice Brackney made 3 out of 9 attempted kills, having a .333 kill percentage along with having 2 solo blocks and 4 block assists.

The Swedes will be back in action on Wednesday, September 7th for another home game against York University. The match is set to start at 2:00PM.
