SWEDES DROP BOTH GAMES IN SAINT MARY TRI-MEET

Leavenworth, Kan. - The Bethany College Swedes Volleyball team traveled to Leavenworth, Kansas to compete in a Tri Meet against Saint Mary University and Peru State College. The Swedes were unable to upend either team, returning home with two losses.  

The Bethany Swedes lost the first game in four sets against the Saint Mary Spires. The Swedes and the Spires were battling the first set until Saint Mary got a 3-point lead that the Swedes were not able to come back from, losing the first set 22-25. The Spires carried the momentum into the second set and were up by 13 points to end the set 12-25. Bethany bounced back in the third set and won the set 25-22. The Swedes put up a good fight in the fourth set and were ahead 22-21 before the Spires went on a 4-point run to secure the set 22-25. Alyssa George, junior outside hitter, had 14 kills and only 2 errors out of 36 attempts, having a .333 kill percentage. Atlantis Jamerson, junior right-side hitter, had 9 kills and only one error out of 26 attempts, having a .308 kill percentage. Cameron Boyd, sophomore defensive specialist, had 26 digs during the match. 

The Swedes Volleyball team also lost to Peru State in four sets. The Swedes were neck and neck with Peru State the first half and were able to take the first set 26-24. Peru State won the next 3 sets 21-25. Britta Romisch, senior outside hitter, had 12 kills and 4 errors out of 31 attempts, having a .258 kill percentage. Cameron Boyd had 24 digs, totaling 50 digs on the day.

The Swedes will have a chance to answer back at home this Saturday, September 16 in a Tri-Meet against Langston University and Hannibal-LaGrange University. The match against Langston is set to start at 3:00PM. The match against Hannibal-LaGrange will start at 7:00PM.
