SWEDES GET BEAT BY THE JINX
Winfield, Kan. - The Bethany College Volleyball team traveled to Winfield, Kansas for a conference match up against Southwestern College. The Swedes start off on the right foot but are unable to secure the late sets in the match. The Swedes lose to the Jinx in 4 sets.
The first set started off with Southwestern getting ahead with a couple of 3-point streaks. The Swedes kept up the effort but were unable to chip away at the lead that the Jinx had created. The first set ended in a score of 21-25, secured by Southwestern. The Swedes picked up the intensity in the second set with the score going back and forth and secured the set 25-23. The third set, similar to the first set, was a fought out set that the Jinx managed to get ahead by having two 3-point streaks late in the set. Bethany was unable to overcome the deficit, ending the third set 21-25. Bethany and Southwestern were going back in forth and were tied at 14 until the Jinx got a couple points ahead and managed to keep the lead until the end of the set. The score of the final set being 23-25.
Atlantis Jamerson, junior outside hitter, scored 14.5 points during the match along with having 8 digs and 17 assists. Justice Brackney, senior middle blocker, had the highest kill percentage for the Swedes at .296 by having 9 kills out of 27 attempts and only one error. Brackney also had 4 digs, 4 block assists and one solo block. Zola Moore scored 13.5 points during the match while Alyssa George scored 13 points on the night. Cameron Boyd had 31 digs, supported by McKenzie Scott who had 19 digs on the night.

The Swedes will be back in the gym Tuesday, October 11th against the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. The Swedes and the Spires are set to start at 7:00PM.
