JK GOLD CLASSIC RECAP

JK GOLD CLASSIC RECAP

Wichita, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Cross-Country teams took a trip down to Wichita, Kan. to compete in the Wichita State JK Gold Classic.

Overall, both teams had good showings on the course despite the wet and muddy conditions. Logan Pevehouse led the charge for the women's team with a time of 23:19 for her first 5K as a Swede. On the men's side, Eli Gruenbacher ran a strong race to lead the guys with a time of 21:19 in the 6K.

Head Coach Daylon Smith on his teams' performance: "This past weekend we saw great runs by the men and women's XC teams, I am proud of how the squad handled the earlier turnaround after their first meet which was a nighttime race. We saw the women's team face the high-level competition well and knock off a few conference runners which shows a good look into the future for conference later in November. The Men's team also had a great showing starting off with beating Friends University who placed above us at confernece last year, they are on the cusp of a future top 5 finish at conference if we can keep the ball rolling."
