RIGNELL HEADLINES SWEDES; KCAC ANNOUNCES POSTSEASON HONORS

Wichita, Kan. - The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2025-26 KCAC Women's Basketball All-KCAC teams and award winners. Student-athletes were selected for all awards by vote of the KCAC head men's basketball coaches.

Evangel University took home the regular-season conference title with a 21-1 record in conference play, as part of a 24-2 overall record.

Kendall Locke of Bethel College was named KCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year. Tayton Smith of Tabor College was named Defensive Player of the Year. Heaven Shockley of Evangel University was named KCAC Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Year and Abby Wendte of the University of Saint Mary earned KCAC Women's Basketball Freshman of the Year. Maki Wallace of Evangel University won KCAC Women's Basketball Coach of the Year.

Representing Bethany College were three Swedes: Colbi "CJ' Rignell, Becca Unruh, and Lilyan Walden.

CJ Rignell earned Second Team All-KCAC. Rignell was the leader for the Swedes ranking eighth in minutes (744), minutes per game (33.8), and assist (80) during conference play. She led the Swedes in made field goals (147), made free throws (67), points (381), and steals per game (1.3).

Becca Unruh earned honorable mention honors. Unruh ranked in the top 20 in the KCAC with 39 three-pointers made (13th), 74.3% free throw percentage (15th), 58 assists (15th), and 14 blocks (16th).

Lilyan Walden earned a spot of the All-KCAC Freshman Team. Walden got into her groove in December, but finished out strong. She had a 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio (15th) and 15 blocks (14th) on the season; both good for top 15 finishes in the KCAC.

The Swedes were also the recipients of the KCAC's Team of Character Award for Women's Basketball this year for their community service around the area.
